Brief description of our European Policy Statement
The Directorate promotes international cooperation for innovation and mobility with specific emphasis on education, training, working life, culture and young people.
Participation in European networks and partnerships that promote the common interests and mutual benefits can contribute significantly in achieving excellence and results which will provide educational quality and managerial efficiency. The core activities of the Erasmus+ Programme, expressed largely in terms of students' mobility and staff mobility, are regarded as extremely significant and they can generate additional positive effects in the internationalization process of the Directorate for Secondary Education of Piraeus, especially for our students of fewer opportunities.
Looking ahead to the Erasmus+ Programme, our strategy is based on four key pillars:
• A pluralist, multicultural Greek educational community acting in a district of rich cultural and historical heritage is nurtured through our wish to provide of a supportive environment and a education experience that prepares students for the multiplicity of global, socio-economic, political environments and cultures in which they must operate.
We are looking forward to a series of international strategic alliances and partnerships in targeted global areas which support and build the Directorate's capacity and capability in teaching, learning, training, external engagements and in technology transfer. Providing the institution with a pool of reliable and experienced partners remains another significant goal for us.
• The provision of student and staff mobility opportunities across the EU is a core activity of the Erasmus + programme. We are willing to encourage and support as more possible students and teachers to take up the challenge of adding an international dimension to their experience. At the main time we place a strong emphasis on the strategic development of staff exchanges as a means of accessing specialized expertise found in partner institutions on a reciprocal basis.
If this goal is achieved, next step could be for our students and teachers to take advantage by undertaking training and work placements in third counties areas.
