The new European and International Programs Office was established in June 2023 under the initiative of the Director of Secondary Education of Piraeus, Dr Dionysios Anastasopoulos, and has since been operating under his direct supervision. This initiative serves the increasing need for extroversion on the part of the schools of Piraeus in the light of the new environment taking shape in the post-covid period and of the dynamics developing in the new digital era.

The purpose of the establishment of the new Office is to improve the quality of the education provided in the schools of Piraeus through the continuous training of teachers in the framework of European and international programs such as Erasmus+ and UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet). Through these programs and networks, teachers are given the opportunity to be trained not only in their subject area, but also in the methodology of integrating European and international educational priorities in their daily teaching practice, such as Education for Sustainable Development, Global Citizenship Education, Inclusion and Intercultural Learning, while, at the same time, enhancing their digital skills.
