Meeting with the staff of Piraeus Makerspace Circular Economy Workshop of the Municipality of Piraeus

On Friday 26 January 2024, the Office of European & International Programs organized a meeting with the staff of Piraeus Makerspace Circular Economy Workshop of the Municipality of Piraeus, also attended by a representative of the teaching staff of the two VET schools located in the building, in order to consolidate the networking opportunities of the Workshop provided by the Office and find new possibilities and opportunities for cooperation, mainly within the framework of Erasmus+ and UNESCO ASPnet school projects focusing on the European educational priority of Sustainable Development. The meeting started with the presentation of the business plan for the sustainability of the Workshop entitled «Piraeus Makerspace: Green & Social Entrepreneurship Incubator» prepared by the Office. During the meeting, the communication strategy of the workshop was also discussed regarding the enhancement of the visibility of its potential and activities as a contact space for school students with the concept and practice of circular economy. It should be noted that, in relation to Piraeus Makerspace Circular Economy Workshop, the following promotional and networking activities have already been carried out by the Office of European & International Programs since September 2023:
  
• Contact with Ms. Maria Dombrovic, Social Studies teacher at GEL Kaminion, in order to provide support to the multidisciplinary project that she is implementing at the school
• Contact with Ms. Vera Dilari, National Coordinator of UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet), Directorate of European & International Affairs, Ministry of Education, in order to recommend visits of ASPnet schools to the Workshop under the circular economy theme of the Network (scheduled visit of Ralleio Gymnasio Thileon Peiraia)
• Contact with Ms. Katerina Christodoulou, Academic & Organizational Erasmus+ and UNESCO ASPnet Coordinator at Ralleio Lykeio Thileon Peiraia, and donation of 30 kilos of plastic bottle caps collected at the recycling station of the school to be reused as raw material for the 3D printers of the Workshop
• Contact with Ms. Maria Yannakaki, Director of the 8th Junior High School of Piraeus to schedule a student visit to the workshop
• Proposal for contact with the International Relations Office and the Research Centre of the University of Piraeus.
